Circular economy in focus – innovation tour “Research Research!” on November 21st in Wolfsburg

New technologies for the circular economy are the focus of the IHK innovation tour “Research Research!” on Thursday, November 21st, 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., in the Open Hybrid LabFactory (OHLF) in Wolfsburg. The OHLF develops technical solutions that can also help implement the ambitious regulations of the EU Green Deal – from hybrid lightweight construction and life cycle engineering to the circular economy for sustainable use of resources. The research projects are closely linked to industry and offer entry opportunities for companies at any time.

The IHK innovation tour program includes insights into the work of the four interdisciplinary OHLF research groups: “Automated vehicle dismantling”, “Sustainable material and surface systems”, “Adaptive processing of bio-based materials” and “AI-based product development and optimization” . The technological activities cover the entire value chain from conceptual design to manufacturing processes and life cycle design and engineering, including recycling and reuse of materials. A demonstration by the OHLF-based start-up Sentics for real-time visual localization in industrial environments rounds off the meeting. Finally, the question of how the world of work must adapt to the requirements of the circular economy will be examined.

With the OHLF as a research core, a joint Wolfsburg campus with international appeal is to be created. The Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, the Technical University of Braunschweig, Volkswagen AG and the Fraunhofer Society are supporting this project as partners.

The innovation tour “Research Research” by the IHKs of the Hamburg metropolitan region has been opening the doors to research institutions in Northern Germany for companies for seventeen years now, so that they can have a direct conversation with science.

Gritt Sonnenberg accepts registrations for the appointment at the Open Hybrid LabFactory Wolfsburg on Tel. 04131 742-142 or by email to [email protected].
