New Nintendo Direct for Donkey Kong announced for today

Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Direct presentation for today.

This only deals with Donkey Kong, but you shouldn’t expect a new game from it.

Super Nintendo World: Donkey Kong shows up

Rather, the latest presentation is about an expansion of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan.

Nintendo promises a ten-minute tour of the new Donkey Kong Country expansion.

You can watch the broadcast late this evening 11 p.m watch German time here:

Alternatively, the video will be out from tomorrow 9 a.m available on the Nintendo Germany website.

The last we heard about this expansion was that Nintendo had pushed the opening from Spring 2024 to “Late 2024.”

Since no new opening date has been officially announced, it is likely that we will find out in this presentation.

On top of that, this obligatory note from Nintendo should not be missing: “Please note that this presentation will not contain any game announcements or information about a possible Nintendo Switch successor.”

Nintendo recently announced that it was sticking to its plan and would like to announce the Nintendo Switch 2 this fiscal year. This runs until the end of March 2025, but there is still no date for the announcement.

However, an interesting detail was recently confirmed, as the Switch successor is officially backwards compatible. You will also be able to play your previous Nintendo Switch games on the new console.

A few days ago, Nintendo also reported that sales of the Switch had plummeted compared to the previous year. The company is trying to compensate for the fact that the Switch successor will not be released this year with the help of several Switch bundles that were recently released for the Christmas business.
