Ferries in Bad Schandau are now free of charge

Bad Schandau. The Elbe ferries in Bad Schandau can be used free of charge since the morning of November 11th. This is reported by the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains regional transport (RVSOE). The transport company is reacting to the closure of the Elbe bridge in Bad Schandau, as numerous commuters are now dependent on the ferries. The city of Bad Schandau had previously made parking free.

The innovation applies to line F3/4, which runs between the Elbkai in Bad Schandau and Krippen/Postelwitz, as well as to line F5 between the Elbkai Bad Schandau and the National Park Station.

The ferry traffic between Elbkai and the National Park Station was doubled the day after the bridge was closed. The RVSOE operates two ferries there that run every 15 minutes, even on weekends. The ferries run from 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Ferries connect broken bus routes

Passengers from the direction of Schöna (F5) are asked to use the short ferry connection from the Bornfähre pier to the Elbkai. The Born-Born ferry can be reached within a short walk from the stop on line 252 in the direction of Schöna. Line F3/4 also runs longitudinally from 6 a.m.

The ferries serve as a bridge for bus traffic, which is interrupted by the closure of the Elbe bridge. The buses go left to the National Park train station and right to the Elbkai Bad Schandau.

We are working hard to coordinate the departure times of buses, ferries and trains even better so that the connections work. The RVSOE announces that a special timetable for buses is expected to apply from November 13th. Further reinforcement of the ferries is also planned.
