The Police Headquarters (PHQ) has directed local police personnel to ensure strict action against any incident of terrorism, extortion and robbery.

“Take tougher legal action against terrorism, extortion and robbery,” Additional Inspector General (Crime and Operations) Md Akram Hossain told local police officials at a meeting at the police headquarters this morning (November 11).

He chaired a meeting to review crimes committed across the country in the last three months (July-September).

Akram also called on all stakeholders to strengthen ongoing nationwide joint operations to recover illegal firearms.

“Those who possess illegal firearms will no longer be spared,” he said.

He called on police chiefs to step up the vigilance of intelligence agencies across the country to catch prisoners who escaped from prisons while taking effective measures to stop criminals on highways.

The senior police officer urged all stakeholders to adequately ensure services to the people, saying, “Negligence in providing services to the people will not be accepted.”

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner MD Mainul Hassan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Police Commissioner attended the meeting on virtual platform while DIG (Operations and additional Crime Management) MD Rezaul Karim and other officials were present at the police headquarters .
