It can be stretched by up to 50 percent. However, it has a significantly lower pixel density than, for example, smartphone displays.

LG Display has introduced a new flexible OLED display. It can stretch up to 50 percent and adhere to tissue. The 12-inch prototype can therefore expand up to 18 inches.

The company specifies the pixel density as 100 pixels per inch – a very lower value compared to conventional OLED displays. A smartphone display usually has between 300 and 500 pixels per inch.

According to the company, the new display includes contact lens technology as well as a micro-LED light source that the company says can be repeated over 10,000 times. It is unclear whether the prototype shown last week is the same display that LG Display presented at Seoul Fashion Week in September.

Companies mention convex touchscreens for cars or portable displays that can be attached to work clothing, for example, as possible areas of application. They could then, for example, provide information in real time.
