7:33 p.m. – Trump trusts ex-elite soldier with post of national security advisor

Trump appoints Representative Mike Waltz to the important post of national security adviser. The 50-year-old is a “nationally recognized leader in the field of national security” and an “expert on the threats posed by China, Russia, Iran and global terrorism,” Trump explained about his decision. The representative from the state of Florida is a former officer in the US elite Green Berets unit.

4:29 p.m. – Decision on Trump’s immunity – Judge postpones decision

The decision of the US judiciary as to whether or not the proceedings against the future US President Donald Trump regarding the hush money payment to a porn actress will be discontinued has been postponed. New York Judge Juan Merchan postponed the decision on November 19th.

8:30 a.m. – Governor Noem to lead US Homeland Security

According to information from the TV channel CNN, Trump supporter Kristi Noem is set to become US Secretary of Homeland Security. Noem is governor of the state of South Dakota and supports Trump’s plans for a mass deportation of migrants. With the Department of Homeland Security, it would, among other things, have oversight of immigration authorities and border controls.

Noem was also considered a possible running mate for Trump. But according to media reports, the idea was scrapped after an episode from her memoirs made negative headlines. The 52-year-old wrote that she shot her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, herself because she was not trained to be a hunting dog. Noem later argued that her actions showed that she was not afraid to make tough decisions.

5:00 a.m. – Trump will make Rubio secretary of state

According to a media report, US presidential election winner Donald Trump will appoint Florida Senator Marco Rubio as his Secretary of State. The New York Times newspaper reported Monday evening, citing three sources familiar with Trump’s thinking, that while the decision was not yet final, the future president appeared to have committed to appointing Rubio.

If appointed, Rubio would become one of the key architects of the America First foreign policy of Trump’s second term.

3:00 a.m. – Rep. Mike Waltz is set to become Trump’s national security adviser

Donald Trump will probably fill the position of national security advisor with Republican MP Michael Waltz. As the AP learned from government circles on Monday (local time), Trump had already asked the war veteran. His team initially didn’t want to confirm this.

Waltz is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida. He supported Trump’s 2020 attempt to overturn the results of the US election and has also repeated his complaints about being too “woke”, an attentive, military one. In a statement last year, Waltz said: “I am ready to get to work to better equip our military and shift our focus away from woke priorities and back to winning wars. Our national security depends on it.”

Walzer is also known for his tough stance against China. He has also already called for a rethink of US support for Ukraine in the Russian war of aggression.

10:24 p.m. – Trump makes Zeldin head of the Environmental Protection Agency

Former Congressman Lee Zeldin is set to take over as head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As EPA chief, Zeldin would bring about fair and swift deregulatory decisions that would be implemented in a way that would “unleash the power of American businesses while maintaining the highest environmental standards – including the cleanest air and water on the planet,” it said a message from Donald Trump. Zeldin served for the Republicans in the US House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023. So far he has often commented on national security issues, anti-Semitism or the US relationship with Israel, but not on environmental issues.
