Rangers could make Bosman a bargain price for a £3.5m winger they were at an ‘advanced stage’ in signing

Rangers appeared certain to sign a right winger in the summer as Philippe Clement looked to right the wrongs of the previous summer.

When Scott Wright was sold to Birmingham City, it looked like a deadline day deal would be made for Southampton’s Samuel Edozie, but the Light Blues pulled out as time ran out.

Yusuf Kabadayi stayed in the Bundesliga, where he hardly kicked a ball and Morgan Whittaker became more expensive every week. However, there is good news if Rangers want to get back in for Adama Traore.

Rangers could persuade Adama Traore Bosman to return

The 29-year-old flyer has scored seven goals and two assists in 22 appearances for Ferencvaros since the transfer window closed, although a move to Rangers was said to be at an “advanced stage” at one point.

In hindsight, Vaclav Cerny’s Ibrox signing may have been a loophole, as Traore’s contract expires at the end of the 2025 season and the Mali international can negotiate a pre-contract agreement in January.

In the summer the quota was 3.5 million pounds, this figure will now be significantly lower and Nils Koppen could well return with a cheaper offer to bring the speedster in earlier and provide Clement with reinforcements.

Could Rangers afford Traore?

Although the wage bill is the highest in Hungary at around £14 million, this is still four and a half times smaller than Rangers’ current budget – although that figure is being gradually reduced.

Therefore, it is safe to assume that Traore will be affordable.

To put this into perspective, Rabbi Matondo is widely reported to have an income of around £23,000 a week, or over £1.1 million a year.

Given the Wales international’s availability, it would be a surprise if the Rangers hierarchy did not look to develop him further.

Not only could the Gers get promoted by signing Traore, but they could even have a winger who can make a difference and who is also available every week.

Ultimately, the manager needs all the help he can get.
