“Please go and get yourself checked,” Guernsey cancer survivor urges

In 2016, Mr. Brown experienced minor health issues that led him to see his doctor.

Initially, his symptoms, which included urinary problems, did not cause much concern.

Despite normal PSA test results, which check blood for signs of prostate cancer, an MRI scan revealed advanced stage three prostate cancer.

Fortunately, his cancer was treatable and has been successfully treated ever since.

“Please go and get checked,” Mr. Brown said.

“It’s a big deal to be told you have cancer. I think I was really quite taken aback by it.”

“One in eight men will develop prostate cancer, so they walk among us, maybe not knowing, maybe waiting to find out, maybe finding out by accident, and then, then it’s too late.”
