The Star-Ledger online newspaper is getting the upgrade you asked for

As you’ve read here all year long, I’ve brought together newspaper romantics – that’s most of you! – with digital news products of the 21st century.

Let me start with this today.

In 1967, Ford introduced the Mustang GT, the model’s first major redesign since its debut three years earlier. It included many elements we take for granted today: electric front disc brakes, a fold-away steering wheel and a fold-down rear seat.

It was also more spacious, making it attractive to both performance enthusiasts and those looking for a stylish vehicle.

Yes, Enrique, but why are you telling us this?

This year, Ford introduced the Mustang Mach-E Rally, which features design elements reminiscent of the 1967 Mustang – except it’s an electric vehicle. It features hands-free driving for long journeys, a large touchscreen monitor and other driver assistance technologies. You can travel about 250 miles on a single charge.

The Mustang has evolved as technology has evolved to become more efficient without losing its powerful look and feel – and so has the Star-Ledger.

Many subscribers have told me that they are ready to take control of our offering. Many of you are still afraid to even kick the tires.

I’m happy to say that next week there will be even more reasons to try out The Star-Ledger online newspaper.

From December 17th, the online newspaper portal will have a new look. I was able to try it out last week, and I’m happy to say it’s a significant improvement over what online Star Ledger readers have enjoyed over the years. (Puzzle fans, you’ll like this!)

Aside from a new, sleek design and better navigation features, the online ledger will be much easier to read on your laptop, iPad or smartphone.

Each piece of content—whether it’s a cover story, an obituary, a comic, or a puzzle—opens on its own page.

This means printing and sharing items is much easier.

There’s more, and it’s thanks to your input on what you want that we were able to make these upgrades. I’ll give a full review of it in next week’s column and also ask for your review.

Like the classic Mustang, your newspaper still has the journalistic power you trust. The vehicle in which it is sold now benefits from today’s technology.

Don’t miss the last special section of the year in this week’s online newspaper: “Christmas Greetings – Let’s remember the abundance that surrounds us.” The beautiful illustration on the cover is a nostalgic interpretation of a traditional Christmas card.

Inside there’s a treasure trove of gifts for the holiday season, food, cocktails and entertainment ideas, pre-Christmas preparations for the kids, a look at contemporary Hanukkah celebrations and how the holiday is celebrated around the world.

There are other surprises too. Go ahead and unpack it in the online edition of the newspaper.
