Jay-Z is accused of attacking a 13-year-old girl alongside Diddy in 2000, the artist responds

Rapper and music industry mogul Sean “Jay-Z” Carter is accused, along with Sean “Diddy” Combs, of raping a then-13-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 Video Music Awards, ABC News and local affiliate WABC report.

A civil lawsuit originally filed in October and amended Sunday reportedly alleges that Combs and Carter “took turns” assaulting the minor while an unnamed celebrity stood by and watched.

After the lawsuit was released, Carter issued a statement through his company Roc Nation denying the lawsuit and calling the situation an “extortion attempt” by attorney Tony Buzbee.

Buzbee, a Texas-based attorney, represents dozens of Combs’ alleged victims, many of whom alleged the artist sexually, emotionally and physically abused them. These cases were filed in a New York court.

“These allegations are so heinous that I am asking you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil lawsuit!!,” Carter’s statement read. “Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be put away, don’t you agree?”

Carter also addressed the impact it would have on his family, including his children.

Buzbee claimed on his personal Instagram page that he, too, had been a victim of harassment in recent weeks, but said he would “not allow himself to be bullied or intimidated.” Comments have been disabled under this post, although many have responded to the recent allegations against Carter in other posts on his page.

Combs’ legal team told ABC News on Sunday: “This amended statement of claim and the recent extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee expose his barrage of lawsuits against Mr. Combs for what they are: shameless publicity stunts designed to extort payments from celebrities, who are afraid of lies.” Lies have been spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.

Combs is currently being held in a New York prison, although his legal team has attempted to have him released on bail.
