“Forever chemicals” – These cosmetics can contain poison for pregnant women

Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS)Also called “forever chemicals,” are a class of about 15,000 compounds that are typically used to make products that are water, stain, and heat resistant. They are called “forever chemicals” because they do not break down and accumulate naturally and are linked to cancer, kidney disease, liver problems, immune disorders, birth defects and other serious health problems. The chemicals are widely used throughout the economy and have been added to personal care products – from dental floss to cosmetics – often to promote the distribution of active ingredients or to facilitate absorption through the skin.
