NBA, WNBA and State Farm team up to turn on-court assists into community support

Name the greatest star trios in NBA history.

You might think of the Heat, Spurs and other iconic lineups. But you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn’t mention the NBA, WNBA and State Farm® connection as one of the greatest teams of all time. Don’t know your game? Then let me help you.

Since 2015, the NBA, WNBA and State Farm have proudly partnered to turn money on the court into community-changing assists across the country. For every assist made during regular and postseason games, the NBA, WNBA and State Farm will donate $5 to support STEM learning and technology in classrooms, community centers and after-school programs across the country improve.

“We are proud to be long-time supporters of the NBA and WNBA,” said Kristyn Cook, State Farm’s chief agency, sales and marketing officer. “Sport brings family, friends and ‘good neighbors’ together. Through the Assists Tracker program we can channel our shared passion for sport to create lasting impact in local communities.”

Eric DiMiceli, NBA vice president of social impact, recalls how NBA and WNBA players’ on-court performances translated into impactful community support last year.

“Whether it’s Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers unveiling a STEM lab at Christamore House before the NBA All-Star or Brionna Jones of the Connecticut Sun unveiling a newly renovated wellness room before the WNBA Draft,” DiMiceli said. “NBA and WNBA players provide special opportunities for these children through basketball and provide invaluable lessons in STEM learning.”

The goal is to align State Farm Community Assist projects with important moments like the NBA Draft and WNBA All-Star. For example, during the 2024 WNBA All-Star, the WNBA, State Farm and Heart of America unveiled a new wellness room at the Thunderbird Guadalupe Branch of the Boys & Girls Club.

Looking ahead to this season, the NBA, WNBA and State Farm will continue their collaborative efforts, including their presence at the 2025 NBA All-Star in San Francisco. And while many assume the season of giving begins in winter, this trio keeps their support going, proving that the spirit of giving can make an impact year-round.

All participants can also follow along online as the State Farm Assist Tracker tracks the league’s current assist totals on stats.nba.com. and stats.wnba.com.
