When does Tempest Rising come out?

Together with the trailer, the developers have finally revealed the release date: Tempest Rising will be released on Steam on April 24, 2025. By the way, not as an early access version, but as (hopefully) a fixed and finished game. That’s kind of nice for a change.

Classic real-time strategy awaits you in an alternative, modern war scenario that is suspiciously reminiscent of Command & Conquer not only at first glance, but also at second, third and tenth glance. That means: uncomplicated base building and motivating resource mining, diverse units, lightning-fast tactics (tank rushes always work!) and an action-packed production that really gets things blowing up.

Two parties are competing against each other – and no, they are not called GDI and NOD, but they come close: you command either the highly equipped peacekeeping force of the GDF (Global Defense Forces) or the armies of the shady Tempest Dynasty. Both sides play beautifully differently and have their own troops, buildings, technologies, harvesters and upgrades. Part of the plot will also involve the Veti, an ancient but technologically advanced civilization. Although you won’t be able to play them yourself at launch, the Veti will also form a third, fully playable faction at a later date.

In addition to classic multiplayer, there is also an extensive single-player mode with two campaigns in which the story is advanced with many cutscenes. Real actors are not used, but the result still looks good – you can get a first taste in the trailer linked above.

Did you know? Tempest Rising takes place in the same universe as the successful retro shooter Ion Fury, which was also developed by Slipgate Ironworks.

And finally, another detail that C&C fans in particular should be happy about: none other than Frank Klepacki was hired to contribute some music to Tempest Rising. With legendary tracks like Act on Instinct and Hell March, Klepacki had a lasting influence on Command & Conquer’s style. Now he should also let it rip in Tempest Rising.
