“Used to transfer my entire salary from my account”: What a Bengaluru techie’s wife said in her FIR against Atul Subhash

Atul Subhash suicide case: Amid the controversy surrounding Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash’s suicide, allegedly due to harassment by his wife Nikita Singhania, details of a complaint she had filed in 2022 have emerged. Nikita claimed that Atul would transfer her entire salary from her account to his account.

“My husband started beating me after drinking alcohol and started treating the husband-wife relationship with me like a beast. He transferred my entire salary from my account to his account by threatening me,” Nikita Singhania’s complaint said, according to a report by PTI.

Nikita Singhania had first filed a dowry harassment complaint (FIR) against Atul Subhash, his brother and his parents in 2022, three years after her marriage. However, in his 24-page suicide note, Atul Subhash left a detailed reply to all his wife’s allegations.

“Continue living with it”

In her complaint, Nikita Singhania mentioned that she married Subhash on April 26, 2019 and that her husband and in-laws were unhappy with her parents’ wedding gifts. They demanded an additional Rs 10 lakh.

“They started torturing me physically and mentally for dowry. When I told my parents about the harassment and the dowry, my parents told me that everything would be fine, listen and move on with it. But there was no improvement in my husband and in-laws,” Nikita Singhania said in the complaint, according to PTI.

Nikita Singhania’s relatives have also claimed that she has been trying to divorce Atul Subhash for the past two years. According to PTI, she had filed three or four cases in the court in her home district of Jaunpur.

Lawyer Dinesh Mishra, representing the late engineer’s family, also told PTI that Subhash’s wife Nikita had filed several cases against him in the past.
