Despite ongoing problems at VW: The year 2025 will also bring some new products from Wolfsburg, some of which can even be officially ordered now. We’ll tell you which new electric models are coming and take a closer look at the most exciting candidates.

For links that come with “To the provider” or “To the shop” are marked, we may receive a determination.

At Volkswagen, there is literally an audible grinding noise in the gearbox in the electrical sector. Employees are supposed to leave, factory closures are being considered and the important Chinese market is generating far too little. In addition, the Wolfsburg-based company is still lagging behind the competition in the software sector. Despite all of these problems, VW will bring important new electric models onto the market in 2025, one of which is particularly eagerly awaited.

One of the most eagerly awaited models is undoubtedly new small electric cars, which should finally close the gaping gap in affordable small electric vehicles from German production. Even an SUV version of this model is planned. A new, medium-sized SUV is also to come, as well as revised models of customer favorites such as the T-Roc or the Transporter. The latter only with hybrid drive.

Volkswagen ID.2all

It took a long time until the long-awaited successor to the e.Up!, which is also often referred to as the electric Polo, became concrete. Now it should happen in the 3rd quarter of next year. The ID.2all officially sees the light of day. The “all” in the name is intended to make it clear that the ID.2 will be a typical VW, a car for everyone.

As VW has already announced, the ID.2 will be a highly efficient car. Even with a comparatively small battery, the ID.2 should have a significantly greater range than today’s ID.3. There is a completely new design concept in the interior that meets the wishes of many drivers. Instead of difficult-to-use touch displays, there will be more haptic buttons again. However, all final data is not available to date.

So far all we know is that the ID.2all is powered by a 226 hp electric motor and that the sprint from 0 to 100 is completed in under seven seconds. The small car should have a range of up to 450 kilometers. An infotainment system with a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a multifunction steering wheel is planned. The battery should be able to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes.

The trunk volume should be between 490 and 1,330 liters. The ID. 2all with a 2.20 meter long loading area, significantly more than most vehicles in the small car competition. The small car should cost around 25,000 euros, we are excited. By the way: There will also be an SUV version of the ID.2all from 2026. There is also speculation about a GTI variant that will round out the model range in the next few years.

Small, compact and efficient: The ID2.all is coming in 2025.

VW Tayron and T-Roc

The VW Tayron, which was previously sold in China, will also be coming to Germany from 2025. It has been officially available for order since October 2024. The Tayron is intended to close the existing gap between the Tiguan and Touareg in the SUV segment. However, the medium-sized SUV with up to seven seats is not available as a fully electric vehicle.

Anyone who has an electric drive can choose between a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5 liter petrol engine, 19.7 kWh battery and a system output of 204 hp or a mild hybrid with 150 hp. Prices for the hybrid start at just under 45,500 euros. There will also finally be hybrid models of the VW T-Roc from 2025. However, further information on this is currently not available.

VW Multivan and California

Whether Transporter, Caravelle, California, Multivan or ID.Buzz: everyone will find the right vehicle for a wide range of applications here. New variants are now being added, which can already be officially ordered from VW. The vehicles will be delivered from the beginning of 2025. The new models in the Multivan or California line offer a system output of up to 245 hp and a torque of 350 Newton meters.

The drive consists of a 1.5 TFSI petrol engine in conjunction with an electric motor on the front axle and another at the rear. The electric motors draw their energy from a 19.7 kWh battery, which is said to be good for almost 100 kilometers (95 for the Multivan and 91 for the California) of purely electric range.

The Multivan with 4×4 and mixed drive is available from VW in the cheapest version from 70,668 euros and 15 cents. If you want the top model Ocean, you have to spend at least 99,251.95. If you tick off everything the accessories list offers, you’ll end up with more than 100,000 euros.

If you compare the prices, the current price for a purely electric ID.Buzz seems almost cheap. The special model Goal with 286 hp and a range of up to 460 kilometers only has rear-wheel drive, currently costs from 62,707.05 euros at VW and is therefore quickly 8,000 euros cheaper than the cheapest 4×4 hybrid Multivan.
