Path of Exile 2 is currently on everyone’s lips. Fans of action role-playing games had to wait a long time for this release, but now it is finally here – in the form of Early Access. Over half a million active players joined the battle on Steam on December 8, 2024.

Since then, this record has not been broken again, but there are currently around three to four hundred thousand players playing Path of Exile 2 every day. Highest speed to finally ask you for your opinion.

And what should we say? After over 5,500 votes, the short answer is: PoE2 will completely knock your armor off. The long answer comes now.

So you voted

The mood is very clear at first glance. Over half of all survey participants voted in favor Very good:

Another 27 percent chose the second best answer option Colon. That makes exactly 80 percent happy or very happy Path of Exile 2 friends. Only one or one in five people are not completely happy. However, most of the unlucky people are more neutral than really dissatisfied with the game.

That’s what you say

Of course, there are all sorts of detailed requests to speak in the comments under the survey. With 145 comments, we cannot write down all of them here, which is why we have made a small selection.

So Shemyaza praises something

I’ve played almost every game in this genre since Diablo almost 30 years ago. Path of Exile, Diablo 2 (including Resurrected) and Grim Dawn have been my favorites so far. But even in Early Access, PoE 2 already has everything to make it my new favorite game of this type.

The mechanisms have been meaningfully revised compared to PoE. I especially like the new skill system including the removal of items with links. I also like the leisurely pace. In the previous version you basically flew over the maps, but here everything is a little slower. I find the level of difficulty to be pleasant. It’s not Dark Souls, and that’s a good thing, but it is still challenging at times, so you have to pay attention to your skills and equipment.

And then of course the graphics, the animations, the style, the sound and the music. This is how dark fantasy works to perfection. In any case, I’m really looking forward to the remaining three acts and the other six classes. Rarely have I experienced a game in Early Access that feels so great right from the start. Really great job, GGG!

Path of Exile 2 is (almost) exactly what Maurice wanted

Geralt_80 joins Path of Exile 2 as a newbie and has the following to report:

As a PoE newbie, I bought the game when it was released. Graphics, sound, atmosphere are terrific. But I admit that I watch a lot of YouTube guides to get into the game. The mechanics are sometimes very complex. What I still don’t fully understand (what the point is) is that you basically “level up” items and just have to find them and optimize them. But well, that seems to be a unique selling point of the game?
Anyway, I play a warrior. I’m now lvl 25 and in Act 2 after about 21 hours. I’m already having a hard time with the bosses and resistances also seem to be important. It’s fun that I don’t play anything else at the moment and PoE II is a good thing. I’m excited to see how far I can get as an absolute beginner and stay motivated.

ArkhanTheBlack sees the whole thing less euphorically:

I’m a bit conflicted. I found the challenging gameplay refreshing for a long time, but then had to capitulate at the final boss of Act 2 after 30+ deaths. Also because grinding is of little use because you simply don’t get any good loot. Many people make do with trading, but for me that is somehow like cheating and is therefore out of the question for me. And I’m actually here for build diversity and not 2-3 meta builds and trade-to-win.

Regardless, the story and level design leave a lot to be desired, even if the gameplay, graphics and boss design are certainly some of the best the genre has to offer. So I’ll try it again when the game is out of Early Access and the balancing has been tweaked more. For now I’m out and uninstalled the game.

That was the long answer to the survey results. How’s it looking for you? Have you already started Path of Exile 2? Or do you, like many others in the comments, prefer to wait for the real release when the action role-playing game will be free to play for everyone? We look forward to your comments.
