EXCLUSIVE: Shruti Haasan Reveals Gabbar Is Back Co-Star Akshay Kumar Gave The Best Advice; remembers how it changed her life

Shruti Haasan worked with Akshay Kumar in the 2015 film Gabbar Is Back. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, the actress revealed that Akshay gave her the best advice to focus on rewards rather than awards. She remembered it changing her life.

In a recent podcast with Pinkvilla, Shruti Haasan was asked to reveal the best advice an actor gave her. In response, she replied, “Mr. Akshay Kumar told me, ‘Focus on rewards, not awards.'”

When asked if this advice changed her life, Shruti said, “Yes, because the mere ghar mein papa (at my home) has a shelf full of awards, my mother has a National Award and my father has National Awards .” So I thought to myself, “Main toh bilkul (I am absolutely) like complete zero waste, how full anda (zero) am I.”

She continued, “Then I thought, ‘Nahi, nahi, main bas kaam kar rahi hun (No no, I’m just working) and I will grow at my own pace; I will grow. When I started using the reward system, not the financial reward, but the reward system, I started to enjoy it more.”

During the conversation, Shruti Haasan also spoke about working on the comedy ‘Welcome Back’. She said, “I think Welcome Back, it was very little comedy compared to what I have done in Telugu and stuff, but I love comedy.”

On the time I left Bollywood, Shruti said, “It’s not that I avoided it, but I just moved to where I have more work and more work that appreciates me or me provides a better platform.” I think what happened before the pandemic was that I had already taken a break for a year or two and when I came back, everything was different, even in Mumbai, in Bollywood and OTT. Now things have changed again and people are finding out a lot of things.”

The Luck actress added, “Mujhe Hindi filmein bahut acchi lagti hain, mujhe karna hai (I like Hindi films a lot; I want to do them), but things that excite me.” She mentioned that she had received a few offers , but they weren’t that exciting.
