According to the company, the sale will initially have no noticeable consequences for existing customers. According to the editorial team, there has not yet been a circular. “Northern Access remains an independent GmbH, the customers remain Northern Access customers with Northern Access connections,” says SFN spokeswoman Julia Wohlschiess.

She was initially unable to provide specific information about how many connections the company has taken over in the Neustädter Land and the Hanover region. “We first have to get a comprehensive overview,” said the spokeswoman. According to their own statements, the new owners now want to examine where the network can be “improved, condensed or expanded”.

As a regional provider, Northern Access was among the first to set up the fiber optic network in the region. In Neustadt, however, Stadtwerke Neustadt has been pushing ahead with its own internet subsidiary “Rasannnt” in the area of fiber optic expansion since 2022. Stadtwerke Neustadt has now gained more than 10,000 customers for its own internet offering. Deutsche Telekom remains the strongest local competitor. Northern Access continues to supply larger parts of the districts of Nienburg, Neustadt, Gehrden, Seelze and Petershagen with a fiber optic network.
