Rashford was brutally told by the former Man Utd man that he wasn’t worth £10million as a move to the Prem rivals was ruled out

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster believes the Red Devils could struggle to get even £10million for Marcus Rashford amid speculation he could leave next month.

The England international has not been in Man Utd’s squad for the last three games and there are reportedly concerns about his training performances and attitude.

Rashford admitted in a recent interview that he is ready for a new challenge away from Old Trafford, but Foster believes Man Utd will struggle to generate a large transfer fee for him if he does leave.

“Marcus Rashford… There are so many people who talk about him and say, ‘On his day, on his day’. His day is once every 10 games,” Foster said on his Cycling GK podcast.

“Honestly, it’s once every 10 games and you can’t have a luxury player in the modern game that can give you a game out of 10, it’s as simple as that.

Some media outlets have suggested Arsenal could make a surprise move for Rashford, but Foster says the 27-year-old is not suitable for Mikel Arteta’s side.

“Coupled with the fact that he has so much prestige and baggage and everything that goes with it, I don’t think Mikel Arteta wants this anywhere near as much as Arsenal.”

“I won’t even pay £10m for Rashford”

Sources have told TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Rudy Galetti that Man Utd would consider offers of around £50m for Rashford. Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have emerged as potential suitors for Rashford but would not be interested in a loan deal until January. His weekly wage of over £300,000 is also a major obstacle to a possible exit.

However, Foster believes Man Utd will struggle to get even £10million for the striker. He also thinks a move to Major League Soccer could be possible.

“He has to leave Manchester United. I think it will be an MLS move or something. It’s going to have to be a massive pay cut,” Foster added.

“If the fire is put out, can you get it back?” It has to come from him. I don’t think he can get it back.

“Again, you’re talking about money really ruining everything, guys. Once people have this huge contract and these five years in the bank and everything they’ll ever need for the rest of their lives, it takes (that fire) out of them.

“They were talking about £40 million too, you know? Even 10, I’m not paying £10 million… because of anything.”

Man Utd line up potential Rashford replacement

TEAMtalk understands Man Utd have drawn up a shortlist of potential Rashford successors should he leave the club in January.

As we exclusively revealed on Christmas Eve, Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has many admirers at Old Trafford, but he would be very expensive mid-season. Also on the Red Devils’ shortlist are Brighton’s Karou Mitoma and Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, who was electrifying at Euro 2024.

Sources suggest that, contrary to some reports, neither Paris Saint-Germain nor Barcelona are considering a move for Rashford in January.

With that in mind, the Saudi Pro League is probably the only team that could sign Rashford on a permanent basis next month.
