Bushfire | Emergency Warning – Bushfire – Leave immediately

This emergency alert is issued for Langi Logan, Maroona, Mininera, Nerrin Nerrin, Rossbridge, Tatyoon, Tatyoon
North, Westmere.
* There is a bushfire in the Grampians National Park – Yarram Gap Road which is not yet under control.
*Due to irregular winds, there may be gusts of wind from different directions.
* Strong winds are occurring resulting in increased fire activity. Road closure: The Glenelg Highway is closed between Dunkeld and Wickliffe
Communications: The communications tower at Mt William was damaged. your cell phone and
Internet services are carried out. Tune in to ABC Radio to stay up to date. Leaving immediately is the safest option before conditions become too dire
dangerous.
If you decide to stay, emergency services may not be able to help you. What you should do:
Travel to:
* The home of family members or friends that is outside the warning area.
* When leaving, remember to take your pets, medications, cell phone and charger with you.

In the car:
* If you are traveling, do not enter the area. Make a U-turn and drive to safety.
* Slow down and turn on the headlights. Smoke makes visibility difficult. If you are unable to leave the house, you should stay indoors:
* Close all exterior doors, windows and vents. Turn off cooling systems.
* You must seek shelter before the fire breaks out. The extreme heat will likely kill you long before the flames reach you.
* Shelter in a room that has two exits, e.g. B. a door or a window, including one directly outside. It’s important to be able to see outside so you know what’s happening with the fire.
* If your house is on fire and the conditions inside become unbearable, you need to get out and go to an area that has already burned down. If you cannot get into the house, as a last resort there are the following options:
* Shelter in the middle of a large open area such as a plowed paddock, football oval or sports reserve.
* Enter a large body of water such as a dam, lake, river, ocean, or in-ground swimming pool.
* Try to protect yourself from the heat of the fire. If you catch fire in your car:
* Park behind a sturdy structure to block the heat of the fire or stop in a cleared area.
* Try to position the car in the direction of the approaching fire.
* Turn on your hazard lights and headlights.
* Close all windows.
* Turn off the air conditioner and close all vents.
* Turn off your car’s engine.
* Get as low as possible under the window and cover it with a pure wool blanket. Impact in your region:

* Embers light small fires in front of the main fire.
* Trees can be extremely dangerous during bushfires or high winds. Do not stand, park or travel in areas where trees are affected by fires.
