Blockbuster trade proposal has Bucks completely shoring up roster for postseason

Blockbuster trade proposal has Bucks completely shoring up roster for postseason

The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the best teams in the entire NBA in recent weeks. Since winning the NBA Cup, their pace has slowed down a bit. Still, the Bucks played good basketball. That doesn’t mean they don’t need help to strengthen the squad.

Milwaukee may have the best player in the entire league this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo has put up some ridiculous numbers. He looks like the league’s MVP. There’s a chance he’ll post a triple-double every night, but even that won’t be enough to win an NBA title.

If the Bucks want to win another championship, they will need to have some depth to back up what Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard did. The Bucks can use help from the bench to ensure their two starters don’t have to play a lot of minutes. This trade proposal would help them do that.

Bucks received: Luke Kennard and Robert Williams III

Blazer received: Marcus Smart, a 2027 second-round draft pick and a 2031 second-round draft pick

Grizzlies receive: Brook Lopez and Matisse Thybulle

It would really be beneficial for Milwaukee to get someone like Luke Kennard who can shoot threes off the bench. He is also someone who doesn’t need a lot of space to fire a shot. Robert Williams III would also give them a rim running center they desperately need as well as rim protection by sending Brook Lopez to Memphis.

The Grizzlies would get an experienced center who can make threes while Zach Edey is a rookie learning how to play in the NBA. Matisse Thybulle is a solid defender who can also add depth, so he would be a solid piece for a Memphis team that is already pretty good defensively.

The Trail Blazers have another tradeable contract in Marcus Smart that they can trade for additional draft capital or a younger player. They are a team looking for anything that can help them accelerate the rebuild they are in.

If the Bucks made a trade like this, their bench would immediately get better. They’re also getting younger at the center, which is on their radar for the future. Lopez is in his 17th year in the NBA, so he could retire soon. You need a plan at this point.
