Fire chief Mark Zielinski resigns ++ Nasal spray from Bad Segeberg ++ How much money do you make with horses?

Good morning!

What is important in the Segeberg district today – compiled by me for you. Have a good start to the day!

End of an era: Mark Zielinski no longer wants to be fire chief

That’s what it’s about: It’s the end of an era. Bad Segeberg’s fire chief Mark Zielinski, who has shaped the office like no one before him, will no longer be chief after 18 years, but will only be a simple firefighter.

This is the reason: Zielinski has accumulated a lot of frustration over the years. “I’m actually constantly in crisis mode,” the 54-year-old says of himself.

What’s next? A successor for Zielinski is already ready. But he will be following in very big footsteps. A bit regrettable: As boss, he will no longer live to see the opening of the new fire brigade headquarters on the B206, which Zielinski was largely responsible for.

“Soledum” – a pharmaceutical success story from Bad Segeberg

That’s what it’s about: It is a little-known success story from Bad Segeberg: The Soledum company produced high-quality medicines, especially against colds, in Bad Segeberg from 1949 to 2006.

This is what lies behind it: After the company he founded in Hamburg in 1944 was bombed out, the pharmacologist Dr. Paul Norbert Greve in Bad Segeberg new.

Known medicines: Greve and his son Rainer, who succeeded him, were able to register a total of 53 medical patents. The most successful were the nasal sprays Nasic and Nasicur, which are still available.

Farmer Series: Can you still make money with horses?

That’s what it’s about: One year after the farmers’ protests, we are introducing various agricultural businesses in the Segeberg district. The sixth in our series: The former show jumper and current horse breeder Dirk Schröder from Lentföhrden.

Big investment: We want to know how farmers are coping today. Horse breeding is also no guarantee of making money. Raising a single horse costs around 25,000 euros. In addition, there is more and more bureaucratic effort.

This is how it continues: Even though Schröder often thought about it when he quit, he will continue to run his business. Unlike many others, he is also lucky: his daughter will continue to run the business at some point.

Henstedt-Ulzburg: Hot debate about the “Third Place”

That’s what it’s about: Actually, it had long been a foregone conclusion in Henstedt-Ulzburg. The so-called “Third Place” community meeting place in the city center, which is intended to connect the library with learning and meeting rooms. However, some politicians want to cancel the project for cost reasons.

This is what lies behind it: Like many municipalities, Henstedt-Ulzburg is in financial trouble. Nevertheless, many people want the project. Not just as a meeting place for children and young people; Adults also selected the item “finding new friends” particularly frequently in a survey.

This is how it continues: If the head of the adult education center has his way, the “Third Place” must definitely be built. Especially since the rental agreement has also been signed. But it is still unclear whether politicians will actually release the two million euros for the project.

“Lassdaskindraus” in Wittenborn

That’s what it’s about: There is a holiday camp for adults at the Wittenborn “Wibo” youth campsite. The “Lassdaskindraus” offer will take place from May 16th to 18th, 2025.

That’s why this is interesting: The camp quickly runs exactly like the children’s tent camps in “Wibo”. This includes camping, games and workshops as well as campfires.

This is how it continues: Another camp for adults will also be offered at the campsite next year. Weekend dates and dates during the Easter holidays have also already been set for children.
