The Güler brothers want to continue their business in the Maxi Center. Demand for their outlet prices on branded shoes remains strong.

Hamm – After the “rush of the very best” at the opening at the beginning of November, things have “become quieter,” says surplus stock dealer Mehmet Güler. He and his brother Kerim Güler didn’t expect anything different. This was also the case during the two official flying visits when they came to the otherwise empty shop in the Maxi Center Passage for a few months. For the current offering, you are still seeing good demand for your “branded shoes” at outlet prices. That’s why they want to stay for now.

The Güler brothers from the Neubeckum surplus store initially wanted to wait for the Christmas business. Now it is clear: “We will definitely take January with us,” says Mehmet Güler. The interim balance is correct. “The offer has been well received.” Many customers took several shoes with them.

But somehow the large business premises on Moritz-Bacharach-Straße has not become emptier. It is estimated that there were around 21,000 pairs at the opening. “We kept adding new ones,” he explains of the completed shelves. “We still have lots in stock.” According to the remaining stock dealer, the shoes come from an online store that was closed.

Remnants dealer in the Maxi-Center: not everything is going well

Sales success does not affect all offers. After about two months, some shoes turn out to be only in sporadic demand. “We are now exchanging what we have only sold a little since we opened for something new,” he says. And if business continues like this, the brothers can imagine staying in Werries even after January.

The company from the neighborhood has set itself up well and has put a lot of effort into it this time. The long learning curve of the business premises gives the Gülers flexibility. The last long-term tenant to date was “Your Place”. The drugstore chain went bankrupt in 2012. Afterwards, the approximately 300 square meter shop was empty. Only the remaining stock dealers came, albeit for a limited time, and thus continue to expand the offerings in the busy shopping center.

Meanwhile, a few meters away, a sale is in full swing: the jewelry store in the Maxi Center is closing in a few days.
