Anneliese Keßelmann is now celebrating a special anniversary. She has been working at the BRK senior living facility in Bad Tölz for 35 years, making her the longest-serving employee.

Bad Tölz – On October 1, 1989, Keßelmann began working in the “Haus am Park” in Bad Tölz. The trained nursing assistant initially worked in inpatient care and has been working in outpatient care for five years, the BRK describes her career in a statement. There, Keßelmann worked twice a week for three and a half hours with five to eight seniors who live in assisted living.

When she visited the hospital she thought: This could be better

Keßelmann came to care as a teenager. “When I was 15, I visited my foster uncle in the hospital,” she is quoted as saying in the statement. The young woman misses the anonymity that exists between patients and nursing staff. “I thought there was a better way,” she says – and decided to complete a voluntary social year in nursing after school. She then trained as a nursing assistant at the “Haus am Park”. That was 35 years ago now.

“I get a lot of gratitude back from people”

Anneliese Keßelmann says she has no regrets about taking the step into a social profession. Above all, she enjoys working with people. “Here a thank you, there a smile, I get a lot of gratitude in return from people,” explains Keßelmann, who comes from Bad Heilbrunn and now lives in Bad Tölz with her husband and an adult son. The 58-year-olds are also socially involved in their free time: as reading sponsors at the local elementary school.
