The Magicians win 10-2 in their first game in Minnesota News, sports, jobs

ROSEAU, Minn. – The Magicians overcame their road trip stiffness with three goals scored in the first period, five in the second and one in the third for a 10-2 victory over Lake of the Woods in their first road game in Minnesota.

Minot High got on the scoreboard first with an even goal from Finlee Bentz at 8:15 of the first quarter, assisted by Teegan Strand. Less than 15 seconds later, Hudson Cope scored another unassisted goal for a 2-0 lead. At 10:59, Coen Schmeichel scored the third goal, Oliver Thompson and Easton Panasuk made it 3-0.

Panasuk opened the scoring at 2:03 of the second period, with Schmeichel and Mackley Morelli providing the assists. Just over a minute later, Strand scored the second goal to make it 5-0, with assists from Rylan Roteliuk and Bentz.

Aidan Diehl scored a power play goal at 4:55 minutes, with Morelli getting the assist. Michael Ell scored the next goal with a short shot at 9:48, with Cope getting the assist for a 7-0 lead. Just over a minute later, Lake of the Woods scored at 10:59 before Panasuk scored the eighth goal with Roteliuk and Morelli on assists for an 8-1 lead.

Carter Coleman scored the ninth goal of the game to open the third period at 9:26, with Diehl and Oliver Thompson having assists. Lake of the Woods made the final score 13:12 with their second goal. Morelli shot the puck into the net at 15:59 for the final score of the game, with Roteliuk and Panasuk providing the assists.

Minot High had 53 shots on goal, compared to five for Lake of the Woods. Minot High scored one penalty in the first, two in the second and another in the third. Lake of the Woods had a total of two goals in the second period and one goal in the third period.

Devon Keller guarded the Magicians’ net and made three saves against five shots on goal.

Minot High faces host Roseau Skaters today and Robbinsdale-Armstrong tomorrow, Dec. 28, to complete their three games in Minnesota.
