Israel should stand firm until the job is done, says Netanyahu after attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen | N18G

On December 26, 2024, Israel launched airstrikes on several facilities linked to the Iran-aligned Houthi movement in Yemen, including Sanaa International Airport, Red Sea ports and power plants in Hodeidah, Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib. Houthi media reported at least six deaths, two of whom were killed at the airport and one at the ports. The destruction at the Hodeidah power plant and Sanaa airport was shown in video footage confirmed by Reuters using satellite images. The Houthis, who had previously launched rocket and drone attacks on Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians, did not comment. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed the continuation of the mission and emphasized the goal of cutting off Iran’s influence. The attacks followed more than a year of Houthi attacks that disrupted global shipping routes. The United Nations condemned the escalation and warned of a possible regional conflict. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who was at the airport during the attack, reported one crew member was injured.
