Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar has directed his department to introduce a single-window clearance system to ease the process of obtaining permissions for film shoots. The initiative aims to promote more film productions in the state, create employment opportunities and ensure smoother operations for filmmakers. At a meeting at Sahyadri Guest House, Shelar highlighted the crucial role of the cultural affairs department in promoting employment and increasing social awareness. He stressed on the need for effective implementation of necessary programs and initiatives to promote cultural activities and film industry in Maharashtra.

The meeting, attended by key officials including Additional Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister and Department of Cultural Affairs, Vikas Kharge, and Maharashtra Film, Stage, and Cultural Development Corporation Managing Director Swati Mhase Patil, outlined plans for the next 100 days presented. The discussions included launching the single window online system for film shoot permits across Maharashtra, revamping the PL Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy and organizing various cultural events.

The proposed single-window system is expected to streamline the approval process for filmmakers and make Maharashtra a preferred destination for film productions. By simplifying bureaucratic hurdles, the government hopes to attract more filmmakers and thus boost local employment and economic growth. During the meeting, Shelar also discussed upcoming initiatives like the special release ceremony in honor of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar and the Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony. These events aim to celebrate the state’s rich cultural heritage and recognize outstanding contributions to the arts. Other participants included Deputy Secretary Mahesh Wavhal, Deputy Secretary Nanda Raut and several senior officials from various cultural and literary organizations. The department heads unveiled detailed plans for the rehabilitation of cultural infrastructure, including new projects and programs to nurture talent and preserve Maharashtra’s artistic heritage.

The single window clearance system is expected to attract not only domestic filmmakers but also international productions and put Maharashtra at the forefront. With a clear focus on modernization and inclusivity, the state is poised to make significant strides in cultural and cinematic excellence.
