Khan Sir is facing backlash from BPSC students who are forced to leave the protest site

In Patna, the ongoing protest by BPSC candidates demanding cancellation of the 70th BPSC exam has taken a new turn. For the last nine days, hundreds of students staged a sit-in in Gardanibagh. Today they forced coaching institute owner Khan Sir to leave the protest site, accusing him of hijacking their movement.

Students claim that Khan Sir and Rahman Sir, two prominent educationists, shifted the focus of the protest from students’ concerns to their political goals. When these educators joined the protest, the initial goal was solely to assert the students’ demands before the government. However, students are now alleging that both Khan Sir and Rahman Sir misused the protest for their own interests and turned it into a political campaign. Some students even demanded that the two coaching staff leave the stage, saying they were distracting from the main topic.

Prashant Kishor stands with the students and warns the government

Meanwhile, Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor visited the protesting students and condemned the police’s use of force against them. He expressed solidarity with the students and said he would stand by them if they continued to protest. Mr Kishor stressed that the students’ right to protest must be respected and made it clear that he was there to oppose the government’s actions against the youth.

Student protests intensified after rumors of paper leakage spread among candidates during the 70th BPSC exam held at the Bapu Bhavan exam center in Patna on December 13. While BPSC dismissed the claims and termed them as the work of miscreants, it ordered a re-investigation. Despite this, students have continued their demand for the exam to be canceled and vowed to continue their protest.

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has clarified that exams in other centers will not be cancelled. The movement has received support from various political parties with opposition leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Congress president Akhilesh Singh and independent MP Pappu Yadav supporting the students. Pappu Yadav even announced a Bihar Bandh in support of the protesters as the students stuck to their demand and continued their sit-in.
