“Police Call: Beyond the Law”: What is amateur porn crime like?

Your new assignment leads – also – into the Munich amateur porn scene: I am “Police Call: Beyond the Law” (December 29th, 8:15 p.m., the first), Chief Detective Cris Blohm (Johanna Wokalek, 49) and Dennis Eden (Stephan Zinner, 50) have to investigate the death of “Lucky” (Florian Geißelmann, born 2004) in his trailer in the studio park.

That’s what “Police Call: Beyond the Law” is about

Amateur porn actor Lukas “Lucky” Bärwein is found dead. His girlfriend Mia (Emmapreisedanz, born 2002), the daughter of the well-known Munich entrepreneur Ralph Horschalek (Martin Rapold, 51), is shocked – her father and her influencer sister Sasha Horschalek (Falka Klare) are worried about her good reputation.

Then Inspector Blohm is given DNA information by the laboratory analyst Franca Ambacher (Jule Gartzke, born 1970) that could lead to the perpetrator, but which she is not allowed to use because of legal pitfalls. She still investigates the urgent suspicion on her own…

Is it worth turning on?

In terms of the basic idea, definitely. “As is often the case, the inspiration for the script came from reality: While researching the subject of DNA evidence, I came across the astonishing fact that experienced laboratory analysts can see more information at a glance than they are allowed to reveal to the police. This only happens in extremely rare exceptional cases, but that is precisely when German laws are strict,” explains screenwriter Tobias Kniebe. In this way, he suddenly saw the “conflict of conscience of a DNA expert” in front of him, who then also let the commissioner in on her dilemma. “The whole investigation is already moving beyond the law – for a memorable and dramatic night,” said Kniebe.

Nevertheless, the investigative pressure that forces the inspector to resort to criminal methods seems somewhat contrived in “Police Call: Beyond the Law”. Apart from that, the scenes are entertainingly staged and acted, especially those in the villa in a posh district of Munich. The screenwriter also packed a lot of basic investigative knowledge into the film.

And the amateur porn scene? It’s not dominant in this crime thriller by star director Dominik Graf, but it’s also not woven in too little. Graf describes his premiere with the investigative team Blohm/Eden very aptly: “A search for a murderer that can be seen in part as an almost comedy, but against a tragic background.”
