Cologne’s Wallraf-Richartz Museum closes for renovation – Cultural News – Culture

As the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger” reports, the picture gallery with important medieval works is to be fundamentally repaired at this time and will not move into alternative accommodation. The collection will be relocated between August 2026 and March 2028 and will not be accessible to the public.

The city is therefore looking for a general contractor for the construction project in the building, which opened in 2001. The city council still has to approve. An extension for the Wallraf-Richartz is currently being built on the neighboring property, which will later be connected to the museum underground. The opening is scheduled for 2028.
