OPINION. The air conditioning technologies

The work of the Groupe de Travail (GT) in the Energy Transition of the Association Nationale de la Recherche et de la Technologie (ANRT) in 2024 examines these complex questions and identifies the technologies needed to strengthen the resilience of our economy and our infrastructures.

The sections under tension

Adaptation consists not only in responding to current crises, but also in preparing human and natural systems for a world or for the ambiguities of everyday life, security forces and impacts that occur later, more intensely and more frequently. The water, energy and agriculture sectors are represented on the line for the first time because they are responsible for their vulnerability, which plays their strategic role in global resilience.

GT Transition’s report energetically meets the need for a systems approach: the technological solutions integrate the connections between sectors. For example, when optimizing water use, for example through smart irrigation systems or water reuse, you cannot design without coordination between agriculture, urban development and energy.

This synergy is essential for a title because it serves to optimize investments and allows the production of solutions necessary for more sectors at the same time. The systems approach is also useful for reducing costs and avoiding the impact of repayment or unintended negative consequences. Finally, we use the interactions between different areas to enable integrated climate control while ensuring the stability of the infrastructure.

Innovator pour survivre

Certain technologies are not available, but quick assembly and performance enhancement are required. These are the cases of “smart grids”, which serve to expose electrical and resource-efficient energy sources to the climate, or the energy transfer stations (STEP), which essentially serve to balance the fluctuations of renewable energies.

Other innovations, such as B. Air cooling systems for central thermals, allow to avoid dependence on water during the cooling process and are particularly adapted to the context of a hydraulic load. However, their work at the highest level is faced with the most important economic and technical means, noted in terms of installation and energy costs in relation to traditional systems. The developed agricultural technology states that the selection of resistant crops in testing and the introduction of agroecological practices are not available and are used at a high level.

These are priority strategies to ensure food safety against high and low temperature climate conditions. In the energy sector, pump energy transfer (STEP) stations play an important role in storing the energy from renewable sources to recover it in a period of high demand, taking into account the resilience of resources. The infrastructure: a need to adapt

The report is based on the urgency of modernizing the infrastructure criticisms. Government and Finance: The Pillars of Transition

These transformations require coherent leadership and a massive mobilization of public and private finance. The National Climate Adaptation Plan (PNACC) identifies priority investments, but the challenge is immense.
