“Simplicity and convenience are priceless”

“Simplicity and convenience are priceless”

A homeowner interested in power tools took to r/Lawncare to learn about the advantages of battery power over gas and plug-in options. They got a lot of advice.

“Why do you choose battery-powered tools?” they asked. “I’m looking for insight into why you use electric, battery-powered tools instead of gas/plug-in lawn mowers/other garden tools.”

The poster added that they are already aware of the ease of use and quietness of power tools. But that was a huge oversimplification.

“No more trips to the gas station. No more oil changes. No more winterizing at the end of the season. No more worrying about whether it starts or not,” one user replied.

“With battery operation, you press a button and it starts. It’s that simple. I have the entire ego suite, including zero rotation. Simplicity and convenience cannot come at a price.”

Switching to an electric lawn mower, weed eater and leaf blower is just one way to improve your gardening. These upgrades will save you money in the long run, including $200 per year in gas and maintenance, and contribute to a cleaner planet.

According to Environment America, gas lawn equipment pollutes up to 6.6 million cars in the United States over the course of a year. Some cities and states are even banning the sale and use of such machines because they are contributing to the rapid increase in global temperatures, which is causing health problems for humans, mass deaths of wildlife, and increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather events.

As commenters noted, companies that sell battery-powered power tools offer replaceable components, turning a horrible, tedious trip to the gas station into a relieving walk to the garage for a replacement battery.

One user even shared that he installed solar panels on a shed to get free energy from the sun. Thanks to the sockets inside and outside, the small space was ideal for charging the batteries and connecting the branch mulcher.
