Nick Saban hosts the ESPN College GameDay show before the first round of the College Football Playoff between Notre Dame and Indiana on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, in South Bend.

Former Alabama football coach Nick Saban joined his college GameDay analyst Pat McAfee on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Friday for a discussion that focused largely on the 12-team playoffs.

Without naming names, Saban said he wasn’t sure the committee picked the right 12 teams for the playoffs. This came after Penn State defeated SMU 38-10 last Saturday and after Notre Dame led Indiana by three points until zero time the night before.

“I thought there were some good games, but I also thought there were signs that there might have been three or four better teams that could have gotten them into the playoffs,” Saban said.

Both games will be televised on ESPN.
