A Binghamton man faces multiple felony charges after he attempted to flee police, struck multiple vehicles while drunk and later stole a vehicle after being released, police said.

According to the Johnson City Police Department, at approximately 12:49 a.m. Friday, a law enforcement officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of ​​Main Street and Avenue C in Johnson City.

The driver of the vehicle, 34-year-old Kayron Milner of Binghamton, reportedly refused to stop and crashed into a JCPD officer’s vehicle and another unoccupied parked vehicle. Milner then attempted to flee and drove into a yard on Bennett Avenue, where the vehicle became stuck in the snow.

JCPD and New York State Police officers approached the vehicle and took Milner into custody.

A DUI investigation revealed Milner was under the influence of alcohol while operating the vehicle, and a search revealed Milner was carrying methamphetamine, police said. Additional testing by a State Police drug recognition expert revealed he was under the influence of methamphetamine while driving.

Milner was issued multiple traffic tickets and released with one ticket for the following misdemeanor charges:

  • Third-degree fleeing police officer in a motor vehicle
  • Obstructing governmental administration in the second degree
  • Resisting arrest
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving while ability impaired by drugs
  • Fourth Degree Criminal Mischief

Shortly after his release, JCPD received a report of a stolen vehicle from Corliss Avenue. Officers reviewed security footage from the crime scene and recognized Milner as the suspect.

He was later located by a Broome County Sheriff’s Office deputy who took him into custody without incident.

Milner was taken back to JCPD and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

JCPD detectives met with members of the Endicott Police Department and were able to determine that Milner had also stolen the vehicle in which he was originally stopped. He was also charged with third-degree possession of stolen property, another felony.

Milner is awaiting trial in Johnson City and will be taken to Broome County Central Trial.
