Bulacan introduces “Oplan Ingat Paputok” to ensure a safe New Year celebration

A few days before the New Year celebration, the Bulacan Provincial Government led by Governor Daniel R. Fernando issued Executive Order No. 40, Series of 2024 to support the “Oplan Ingat Paputok” campaign, promote public safety and regulate the pyrotechnic industry in the province.

According to the EO, the “Oplan Ingat Paputok” shall be implemented by the Pyrotechnics Regulatory Board in collaboration with all relevant agencies including local government units, Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other key stakeholders involved in pyrotechnics regulation.

In addition, 24/7 Fireworks-Related Injuries Surveillance (FWRI) was introduced and inter-office collaboration in surveillance by the Public Health Office (PHO) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office was initiated.

On December 18, the PGB through the Bulacan Pyrotechnics Regulatory Board and the Philippine Fireworks Association first conducted a fireworks stand inspection at the Santiago Compound in Barangay Turo, Bocaue, Bulacan.

According to the PHO Public Health report, six firecracker-related injuries were recently recorded from December 21 to 26 in various towns and cities in Bulacan.

The report said the city of San Jose del Monte recorded two cases, while the city of Malolos and the cities of Bocaue, San Miguel and Calumpit reported one case each.

Fernando assured Bulakenyos that the provincial government is doing everything in its power to ensure a safe and happy New Year celebration.

“The provincial government has engaged in work on the government of Bagong Taon, and the provincial government will do everything in its power to prevent a further increase in these cases and will immediately respond to the needs of our Bulakenyos, to ensure a safe and joyful welcome in the New Year,” explained Fernando.
