Nintendo 2025 – My Predictions – ntower

Nintendo 2025 – My Predictions – ntower

Just like last year, I’m trying to predict the coming year for Nintendo. But before we get started, I would like to take a look back at what I was right about and what I wasn’t. Small spoiler: Almost nothing came true. Nintendo 2025 – My Predictions – ntower

REVIEW

For January, I predicted that we would get a Nintendo Museum Direct teasing the Switch’s successor. We got the direct, but there was only a teaser in August.

I predicted a direct for February, but we got a partner showcase

For March I thought an Indie Direct would be released. This only came in April. I also said that we were getting a direct showcasing the Donkey Kong section of the theme park. We also received this direct, but only months later in November.

I predicted that we would get a trailer for the Switch successor in April, but that’s not happening. Also, I thought Paper Mario: The Legend of the Aeon Gate would be released in April, but the game wasn’t released until a month later.

I predicted the release of Luigi’s Mansion 2 and the Splatoon 3 DLC in May, but that didn’t happen.

For June, I said that Nintendo completely ignored Summer Game Fest, which is what happened. But what I also said is that we will get a Switch successor direct with games, release, etc. That didn’t happen.

I was expecting a new Mario & Sonic for July, but that didn’t come true either.

I thought Nintendo was the successor to Gamescom with the Switch, but as we all know, that wasn’t the case. I had predicted an Indie Direct for August, which was correct.

I scheduled the release of the Switch successor for September, but that didn’t happen either.

I expected Metroid Prime 4 to be released in October, but that isn’t happening either.

I thought there would be a Pokémon Legends game coming out in November, but that wasn’t the case either. But one was announced this year.

In December I expected a sequel to Ring Fit Adventure, that Nintendo would win the Game of the Year Award at the Game Awards with a 3D Mario, and that Astral Chain 2 would be announced. Yeah… well, we know what really happened.

As you can see, I had a lot wrong, but hey, let’s start again. :D

JANUARY

Before Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is released, we get a trailer that lasts a maximum of 5 minutes in which we are finally presented with the Nintendo Switch successor. The console is simply called Nintendo Switch 2 and in the trailer you can see, among other things, a new Mario Kart, a new 3D Mario and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. The end will not be until March 2025.

FEBRUARY

In February we will have a Nintendo Direct and in this the Nintendo Switch 2 will be completely presented. We are presented with the hardware, online functions, software, release and price. The console is scheduled to appear in mid-March.

MARCH

The console will be released in March at a price of €399.99. Once in white and once in black and once in a bundle with Mario Kart A casual game is also being released that is intended to highlight the functions of the Switch 2. Xenoblade Chronicles X is released for the normal Switch, but can also be played on the successor thanks to backwards compatibility.

APRIL

In April we’ll get an Indie Direct and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, which will appear on both Switch and its successor. You can clearly see that it looks and runs better on the Switch 2.

MAY

We’re getting a new Punch Out game in May that will make good use of the Switch 2’s new Joy-Con.

JUNE

This month there is a Nintendo Direct that shows us which games we can expect for the Switch 2 in the second half of the year. A Mario Baseball game will also be released.

JULY

A remake of a Fire Emblem game will be released in July. It comes exclusively for the Switch 2.

AUGUST

We’re getting an Indie Direct, Nintendo is at Gamescom, and Nintendogs & Friends is releasing for the Switch 2, as the console will also include a microphone. It’s a brand new Nintendogs and not a remaster or port.

SEPTEMBER

In September we’ll get a Nintendo Direct that gives us a little preview of 2026. Among other things, a remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link will be shown, which is scheduled to appear in February. The successor to Ring Fit Adventure will also be released exclusively for the Switch 2 in September.

OCTOBER

In October, after eight years of waiting, we’ll finally get a new 3D Mario. Super Mario Open World is heating up and as the name suggests, everything is connected. Think of it like Bowser’s Fury, only much bigger, more varied and more innovative.

NOVEMBER

The Pokémon Legends game is releasing this month and people are very surprised that it is doing great. It’s almost flawless on the Switch 2, but it has a few problems on the regular Switch. This will be the last major game released for the Switch 1.

DECEMBER

Mario Kart X wins Game of the Year, but they won’t be making an announcement at the Game Awards. Splatoon 4 will also be released for the Switch 2 in December and Nintendo has conjured up a great lineup for the first year.

The normal Switch will have sold almost 160 million times by then and the successor will have sold around 24 million times by December 2025.

Let’s see what will be right and wrong this time. Wish you all a happy new year. 8-)
