Memories in Orbit on Steam

Metroidvanias are not one of the most popular genres on GameStar.de. But every now and then there are these titles that catch your attention both in terms of play and appearance. Prominent examples would be Ori and the Blind Forest and Hollow Knight.

Memories in Orbit could join this illustrious group. Not much is known about the game yet, but it was one of the headlines of the latest Nintendo Direct. Apparently the small French studio Douze Dixièmes was also able to convince the Japanese game manufacturer.

In addition, the setting presses the right buttons: As the android Mio, you wake up in a strange environment called The Ark. This is a space station that floats aimlessly through space. Your most important task? Fall into oblivion. It’s up to you to figure out exactly what to do and how to get The Ark back on track.

The colorful game world is made up of hand-drawn watercolor elements. Plus, just looking at it made us swoon!

South of Midnight on Steam

South of Midnight is already causing a stir at an Xbox showcase. The action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (We Happy Few, Contrast) relies on an unusual stop-motion look.

The scenario is also unusual: instead of typical fantasy or sci-fi worlds Here you explore an environment that is based on the swampy south of the USA. However, all sorts of creatures from southern folklore also roam here.

You play the adventurer Hazel, who is supposed to become a so-called weaver, a magician. She wants to save her hometown from destruction. On their journey, they will also gradually discover their own family secrets.

The release for 2025 has not yet been officially confirmed. But since the pre-order phase is already underway and an announcement of the date is imminent, the calendar year should almost certainly apply.

The earth is threatened by many dangers. By far the most dangerous: humans. Hell is Us deals with this premise. As a DIY hero, you explore a semi-open game world and try to find out what exactly has brought humanity to the brink of destruction. The makers are already revealing one thing: it just wasn’t the civil war.

Particularly exciting: Maps, compass and quest markers are deliberately avoided. You should completely immerse yourself and explore the world on your own. You can also make your own decisions during the course of your adventure. It remains to be seen whether and to what extent they will contribute.

What is certain, however, is that there is a fight going on, against supernatural creatures. You have axes, spears, swords and other weapons at your disposal. Your opponents should have weak points that you first have to find out.
