Despite high sickness among staff and some other challenges, NVS managing director Thomas Schlüter draws a positive conclusion. He particularly praises the commitment of his employees. This year they had worked to their limits to prevent disruptions in bus and train services. Employees from other departments of Schwerin local transport, such as administration, also stepped in. According to Thomas Schlüter, a special highlight were the days surrounding the celebrations for German Unity Day. The number of passengers here has more than doubled – from 50,000 to 120,000 per day. According to Schlüter, this showed how resilient local transport in Schwerin is and how well the NVS system works. The local transport company has invested around 10 million euros in track construction, among other things. Further track construction work is scheduled for next year – for example on Franz-Mehring Straße. According to the managing director, it is not yet clear whether tickets for Schwerin local transport will be more expensive next year.
