Why campers are “revolutionizing the game”

Why campers are “revolutionizing the game”

Camping – staying in one spot to deliberately surprise opponents – has always polarized the Call of Duty community. For many players it is a sign of lack of skill, but older gamers in particular defend this strategy passionately. (Counter-Strike players are left out of the discussion here.)

Black Ops 6, the latest highlight of the Call of Duty series, is causing heated discussions with its respawn problems. Players often spawn exactly where they just died – a camper’s paradise! Some even jokingly call the game “Camper’s Dream.” But while many complain about the tactics, older players say: “Call of Duty is finally fun again!”

Black Ops 6: Older players defend camping

On Reddit explained a 53-year-old player named Pamela Patty openly: “I’m a camper and I’m not ashamed to admit it!” His reason? Reflexes decrease with age. He hardly has a chance against the rapid jumps and quick reactions of the younger gamers. Instead, he relies on strategy:

“I’m 53. My reflexes aren’t there anymore and if I have to deal with jumping and running rabbits all the time, I’m cannon fodder. “I have to compensate for that with some strategy and malice.”

Another user commented on camping with the following words – which you’ve heard somewhere before: “It’s no longer called camping, it’s called tactical sitting.” Someone commented a little more angrily: “At 53 you have to be careful that you don’t fall asleep while camping and Waking up 4 hours later when everyone has left the game and you are alone on the map.”

Actually, user Bronk93 summed it up best: “The only thing that makes me mad about campers is when I get killed by one trying to get to the same campsite to camp.”

Is camping the only solution?

Not all older players in Black Ops 6 rely on this method. A 56-year-old explained that despite his age, he preferred the run-and-gun style. Another, almost 63, feels the same way: “I face the challenge and love the chaos.” Ergo: not all “old” people pitch a tent.

This shows that even though many older players see camping as a way to save themselves, there are plenty of people who want and can continue to prove themselves in quick matches!

The “good” thing about campers in BO6? If everyone isn’t running around like a hopping rabbit, multiplayer matches will become a little more tactical again.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Windows PC. Shortly after its release, it was more successful than its direct predecessor, Modern Warfare 3. Only recently an update fixed serious problems in the game.
