Colorado man attacks TV reporter, saying ‘This is Trump’s America now!’

Expect more bumbling behavior like this from Trump’s supporters, now that they have license to commit any crime they damn please. Well, almost. This one was arrested after assaulting a brown person (Pacific Islander) and is now being held pending $20,000 bail. According to police, this deranged lunatic followed KKCO/KJCT reporter Ja’Ronn Alex’s vehicle for approximately 40 miles.

DENVER (AP) — A Colorado man may face bias charges for allegedly attacking a news reporter on television after demanding to know if he was a citizen and saying, “This is Trump’s America now,” according to court documents.

Patrick Thomas Egan, 39, was arrested Dec. 18 in Grand Junction, Colorado, after police said he followed KKCO/KJCT reporter Ja’Ronn Alex’s vehicle about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from the Delta area. Alex told police that he believed he was followed and attacked because he was a Pacific Islander.

After arriving in Grand Junction, Egan, who was driving a taxi, pulled up next to Alex at a stoplight and, according to an affidavit, said something like, “Are you even a U.S. citizen?” This is Trump’s America now! I am a Marine and I swore an oath to protect this country from people like you!”

Alex, who had been out reporting, then drove back to his news station in town. After getting out of his vehicle, Egan chased Alex as he ran to the station door and demanded to show his identification, according to the document outlining police evidence in the case. Egan then lunged at Alex, put him in a headlock and “began strangling him,” the affidavit states. Co-workers who rushed to help and witnesses told police that Alex appeared to have lost the ability to breathe during the attack, some of which was captured on surveillance video, the document said.
