SSG Langen wins SG Egelsbach’s Charly Graf memorial tournament. Emre Güral was the outstanding player.

Egelsbach – Last year it was the final of the SG Egelsbach Charly Graf memorial tournament, now the opening game – and at the end the final again: the derby between SSG Langen and 1. FC Langen. In the end, the players and those responsible for the SSG were beaming as they secured the title at the indoor soccer tournament in Egelsbach with a score of 5:2. In front of 350 spectators, the outstanding Emre Güral, the tournament’s top goalscorer, led his team to a derby victory.

In the opening game between the two Langen teams, which ended 2-2, 35-year-old Emre Güral scored the first goal of the tournament. In the final he went one better and became the match winner with three goals and an assist. “I already told the boys that we have a good chance of winning the tournament,” said Güral, a professional in the Turkish Süperlig for many years, convinced of the quality of his team. He directed his teammates with loud commands, be it from the pitch or from the bench. “It was even more important that everyone had a lot of fun, we won with a very good team performance,” praised Güral his teammates, who repeated their title win in 2022.

Erik Liebert scored the first SSG goal in the final, Güral made it 2-0. Luka Simic and Yanik Mihalsevic shortened for the football club, which, as in its victory last year, competed with a mix of players from the first and second teams. Elias Tesema set the final point with 5:2. “The SSG was stronger in the final and deserved to win,” said FCL coach Marco Betz. He was satisfied with his team’s performance. “The boys had fun and performed well.”

SV Erzhausen secured third place in the duel between two regional league teams against TSG Neu-Isenburg, winning 2-1. Davide Marini Waninska gave Neu-Isenburg the lead, but SV Erzhausen turned the game around with two goals from Dominic Kircher.

1. FC Langen beat Erzhausen 4-2 in the first semi-final, Friedrich Zink perfected the victory with 4-2 seconds before the siren. The second encounter of the semifinals between SSG Langen and TSG Neu-Isenburg was even more exciting. Here, Neu-Isenburg’s Younes Lazaar equalized Emre Güral’s opening goal in Lange. The decision was only made in the nine-meter shootout.

SSG Langen had already been eliminated from the group games. In the decisive game against hosts Egelsbach the score was 2-2 with one and a half seconds left on the clock. A free kick from Egelsbach was blocked and only converted into the supposed winning goal in the follow-up shot. This was followed by protests from the SSG Langen that time had run out. Benjamin Schnick, coach of SG Egelsbach, showed fair play, put an end to the chaos and forwent the winning goal. (Rolf Joachim Rebel)
