Resident suffers smoke inhalation from kitchen fire

A 68-year-old was rescued from his smoke-filled apartment during a kitchen fire in Freiburg im Breisgau. He suffered smoke inhalation, the fire department said. The cause of the fire is suspected to be an object that caught fire near the stove or on a stovetop.

According to the fire department, several callers noticed heavy smoke on the balcony of an apartment on the fourth floor of the apartment building and called emergency services. The resident was taken outside from the apartment by emergency services and then taken to a hospital as a precaution. The property damage is said to be relatively minor.
