An investigation is underway after a man was shot in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Police are appealing for information about a shooting that left a man dead in Wilmington.

Police responded to a 911 call about a person lying on the ground in the 1000 block of 6th Street near Wright St. on Saturday, Dec. 28, around 9:30 p.m.

“When emergency responders arrived, they found 43-year-old David McIntyre suffering from a gunshot wound. Mr. McIntyre was transported by EMS to Novant Hospital where he subsequently died,” Wilmington police said in a news release.
