You can stream Apple TV+ for free this weekend

You can stream so much of it The Morning Show As much as your body can physically handle this weekend thanks to a new Apple TV+ promotion. After touting news about Apple TV+ on social media, Apple has confirmed that you will be able to watch the company’s original shows and movies without a paid subscription from January 3rd to January 5th, as long as you have an Apple ID.

Apple calls shows like silo, which is in the back half of its current season, and Severance paywhose long-awaited second season premieres on January 17 (you can watch the first eight minutes of the premiere now), but there’s a solid catalog of TV shows and movies that go beyond the well-known hits. Why not stream the three-hour director’s cut? Napoleon? Or the tragically sleepy cult baby horror series servant? In theory, everything is on the menu.

While this type of advertising experiment is new for Apple, Netflix has offered free weekends in the past to drum up interest in subscriptions. One way to look at Apple’s streaming strategy is that streamers like Netflix and Hulu have learned speedrunning lessons for years, from the risks of spending big on passionate author products to its current retreat from theatrical distribution, one of the few things that have made Apple unique from its competitors. Maybe a free weekend will net the company a few extra subscribers, but at least it’s a good opportunity to see some solid shows.
