Former US President Jimmy Carter is dead. ZDF reacts with a program change and broadcasts a documentary about him.

Dortmund – Jimmy Carter is dead. The former US President died at the age of 100 “with his family surrounded,” as the German Press Agency (DPA) reports. ZDF changes its TV program on the night of Monday to Tuesday (December 31st) and shows a documentary about Carter.

The “Today Journal Update” was initially scheduled for 12:15 a.m. in the second. With “The Peacemaker,” ZDF is instead showing a documentary about the work of the 39th President of the USA (read more TV news at RUHR24).

Jimmy Carter led the Americans from 1977 to 1981. In terms of foreign policy, he was able to record some successes – in terms of domestic policy, his term in office was marked by the economic and oil crises. In 2002 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on human rights.

Following the documentary “The Peacemaker,” ZDF will continue broadcasting as planned. At 12:30 a.m. the film “Frank Five Star” with Lena Urzendowsky in charge. Then, at 2:15 a.m., the channel will show the drama “Teen Spirit,” which stars Elle Fanning, followed by “Horizon,” a French film about climate activists.

On Monday at 5:10 p.m., ZDF will take a look back at the year 2024 and well-known people who have died. The station also broadcasts “Adieu – people we won’t forget”. Companions of people like Franz Beckenbauer and Ruth-Maria Kubitschek have their say in it.
