‘I’m a Gator’: 2026 QB Will Griffin remains committed to Florida

With the 2025 Under Armor All-American Game underway this week, Gator Country spoke with 2026 QB commit Will Griffin to discuss his commitment status before he takes the field with six Gators signees in Orlando. The Tampa native is 6-3, 225 pounds and is a four-star prospect in the class of 2026.

Griffin recently spent time with the team while Florida practiced for its bowl game at Griffin’s high school in Tampa.

“They practiced at Jesuit for the bowl game. This meant I was able to watch the end of some exercises during the exams. I talk to Coach Napier and Coach O’Hara a lot and obviously after a strong finish to the season, we just moved some big guys from some big schools, which is a really big thing for the program,” Griffin said.

With 2025 recruits Vernell Brown III, Dallas Wilson and Naeshaun Montgomery all participating in this year’s Under Armor All-American game, Griffin will have a head start with some of his future receivers this week. All four players will be on Team Icon.

“I helped recruit some of them and saw them at a lot of games,” Griffin said of his future teammates. “We stuck with Vernell and I through thick and thin as we committed ourselves to making it a great season. Everything went well, but there are ups and downs in every season and we had a strong result and got a lot of commits and flips. So we finished the season strong. It will be great that they all stay home.”

When asked before the season about his expectations for the team, Griffin wasn’t surprised that Florida beat two ranked teams in consecutive weeks late in the season.

“Coach Napier is great and he puts everything he can into these guys,” Griffin said. “They all believed in him from the beginning. That’s what I did when I signed up. I said I wanted to be here.”

It’s clear that Will Griffin was born a Gator and it appears that will continue to be the case. The coaching staff is simply icing on the cake for the Jesuit quarterback.

“Man, I just love Coach Napier and Coach O’Hara. They are just great and it is a dream school of mine, many of my family members have gone there. I’ve been to a lot of games and I just love the atmosphere and the swamp, especially the night games, and I love the fans,” Griffin said. “You know, I really love them and they really love me, so it was perfect. I’m a gator and that’s how it will be.”

When asked if he would accept more visits in the future, Griffin responded quickly and got right to the point.

“No, I’m a gator,” Griffin said.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the four-star quarterback is currently the No. 151 overall prospect and the No. 11 quarterback prospect in the country. In three seasons played (freshman-junior), Griffin totaled 7,270 passing yards and 76 touchdowns. The Jesuit quarterback also recorded 2,495 passing yards for 30 touchdowns on Varsity as a seventh and eighth grader. Griffin currently has 25 total offers but wants to stay with the Gators until signing day begins this time next year.
