Roads in Edinburgh closed after pedestrian hit by vehicle as drivers urged to ‘avoid the area’

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Edinburgh while several roads were closed.

Officials said St John’s Road was closed in both directions between the Drumbrae roundabout and Corstorphine Bank Drive following the collision at around 5.50pm on Monday.

Emergency crews are said to be on scene and are asking drivers to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “St John’s Road is closed in both directions between the Drumbrae roundabout and Corstorphine Bank Drive following a one-vehicle accident at around 5.50pm on Monday, December 30 Pedestrian came.

“The emergency services are on duty. Please avoid the area.”

Lothian Buses added: “Due to a road closure, buses are unable to serve St John’s Road and will instead be diverted in both directions via Drum Brae South, Drum Brae Drive and Clermiston Road until further notice.”
