Couple arrested after allegedly hitting patrol car during pursuit

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Two people were arrested after the Storey County Sheriff’s Office said they drove into two patrol cars during a police pursuit.

On Sunday afternoon, just after noon, a sheriff’s office officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver SUV on USA Parkway at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center in Storey County.

Police say the driver failed to obey emergency lights and sirens and that the driver attempted to flee and elude officers and intentionally struck two patrol cars, causing damage. After allegedly hitting the cars, the driver continued to flee westbound on I80, according to police.

The SUV was later located on Peri Ranch Road where a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver of the SUV, 54-year-old Michael Hunter of Sparks, and a passenger, 33-year-old Jordan Taylor of Reno, were arrested. A records check revealed the car was stolen from Reno.

Hunter was arrested on charges of eluding, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving with a revoked license and displaying a forged or altered vehicle registration.

Taylor was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to harbor or assist a felon.

The deputies involved suffered no injuries.
