Elon Musk spent his Christmas holidays getting angry online and in a German newspaper

The days between Christmas and New Year are a listless, limited time. You can entertain yourself with your family, give your mind a sunless space with video games and TV, and eat all the leftover food from the holidays. Elon Musk, the richest man of all time and father of at least 12 children, is spending this time fretting about visas online and publishing an op-ed in a German newspaper.

Where should I even start?

In the days before Christmas, a small war broke out between the MAGA faithful and the tech billionaires who helped Trump win the election. The problem was H1-B visas. You see, immigrant Elon Musk thinks Americans are lazy and demanding. To help ensure success, they want to hire more highly qualified technicians on H1-B visas.

“A culture that worships Cory from ‘Boy Meets World’ or Zach & Slater over Screech in ‘Saved by the Bell’ or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in ‘Family Matters’ will not produce the best engineers,” says DOGE co -Chairman Ramaswamy wrote in a tweet on December 26, a day when most of us are so full of holiday meat that we can’t move.

Ramaswamy and Musk then spent several days battling their followers on X, the Everything app. Musk enthusiastically threw around bans and accusations in the days after Christmas, which I think shortened his time with Path of Exile 2. Sad. A post the day after Christmas summarized what had happened. The post said Americans are stupid. Musk agreed to this and then deleted his consent. He said the “hateful, unrepentant racists” should be removed from the Republican Party.

Good luck with that.

While Musk defended himself against the trolls he encouraged on the website he bought for $44 billion, the world also learned about Adrian Dittmann, a man many consider to be a possible success Be Musk.

Dittmann is a Bluecheck X account that likes to defend Musk. Dittmann’s account has been around since 2021 and he has spent a lot of time fighting for the beleaguered billionaire. The couple first appeared together in a Twitter space in 2023. They repeated the appearance during the H1-B visa discussion.

The thing is: Dittmann sounds and behaves exactly like Elon Musk. The account seemingly exists solely to inflate Musk’s ego and defend his various positions. When both are in the same virtual space, it is impossible to tell them apart. This has led to claims that Dittmann is an alt account of Musk, something even the estranged billionaire’s daughter believes.

It is impossible to know the truth about Dittmann. Either Musk is running an alt account and promoting himself, or he’s a weirdo who loves Musk so much that he makes an image of him, emulates his behavior on Musk, and spends the holidays defending him online. Both possibilities are too terrible to contemplate in these strange and wandering days between Christmas and New Year.

Did you know that there are upcoming parliamentary elections in Germany? Musk knows it. The German government is in crisis and the coalition that governed it has collapsed. At the end of February, the Germans will decide on the future of the country. Musk would like to see a shift to the right in the future.

The billionaire sparked one last controversy before the new year when he published an op-ed in Welt am Sonntag supporting the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Musk said Germany was on the brink of “economic and cultural collapse” and that the AfD was the country’s “last spark of hope.”

The AfD is a party that plunges into a Nazi controversy every few weeks. It would probably also be good for Musk’s business interests abroad. That’s why he wrote the comment. Musk’s support at the newspaper was so scandalous that the editor of Welt am Sonntag resigned in protest.

It’s impossible to know whether any of this will matter come February, when Germany votes, but it suggests Musk is trying to flex his political muscles outside the United States. The day before Christmas he supported the AfD for the first time. I wonder what he will do when he finds out about the hateful, unrepentant racists in the AfD’s ranks.

The world’s richest man entered 2025 with the same energy he developed in 2024. While the rest of us enjoyed time with our families, we finished one last draft before seeing one Nosferatu Regardless of whether it was a matinee or a meeting with old friends: Musk fought against people on the Internet. The holidays are hard for some of us. Musk’s solution seems to be to post about it.
