Diontae Johnson: I want to leave the Ravens in the past and have a fresh start with the Texans

Wide receiver Diontae Johnson has struggled in the league this year, but said Monday that his focus is on the Texans rather than anything that happened at his previous stop.

Johnson was traded from the Steelers to the Panthers before the season and then acquired by the Ravens in a trade with Carolina in October. He played four games for the Ravens before being suspended for refusing to play in a game. He was released before Week 16 and claimed by the Texans as they tried to address a wide receiving corps that lost Tank Dell to a knee injury.

On Monday, Johnson told reporters that he wants to keep his attention focused on facing Tennessee this week and then making the playoffs with his new team.

“Just being here, getting a fresh start, getting along with the guys, just being here to actually be in the building and not worry about everything that happened, just focus on the Titans and learning plays , I’ll just take that with me.” it one day at a time” Johnson said, via KPRC’s Aaron Wilson. “I want to leave this in the past. New beginnings here.”

Johnson said he’s “fitting in really well” and said he’s open to doing “whatever the coaches ask me to do” as he looks to have a more comfortable stay in Houston than he did with his last two teams.
